Here Is Some Inside Information About Purchasing A New System!
Are You Making Any Of These Mistakes Buying A New Central Heating and/Or Cooling System?
Buying a new central system
because you've been told you have a bad compressor or hole in the firebox (heat
exchanger) may be time to consider replacing your current system. MAYBE NOT.
Many times that is not actually the problem. The real problem was diagnose
improperly. A lot of times a part can be replaced to repair the system.
Having your new system
installed without proper sizing for total comfort can cause excessive
condensation on windows, which leads to moisture in the wood work, fabrics,
carpet, and air. This turns into mold smells, swelled wood and high energy
bills. If the unit you install is not the proper on for your home. The days of
"I got a big enough system and a little extra" are far gone! You will experience
condensation in the walls (you might not see right now), high energy bills (or
not the true savings that you could be getting!), and being uncomfortable with
different temperatures through out your home.
So
what do I do? I'm glad you ask. The best way to avoid all of this is
to have an energy analyst/computerized load calculation done before you purchase
a new central system. Once this is done, ask for your GUARANTEES! You deserve
them, IF this is done properly. If no guarantees, maybe you need to talk
to someone else! Any good Heating and Cooling Company will offer this with
guarantees for YOU! DO NOT ALLOW A COMPANY
TO SELL YOU A SYSTEM BASED ON SQUARE FEET OF YOUR HOME OR "SO AND SO GOT A
SYSTEM PUT IN THEIR HOME OF SOME DOLLAR FIGURE THAT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING
TO DO WITH YOUR HOME.
Why
can't I go by my friends home? I'm glad you ask. Think about this.
Two men that weigh 170 lbs. Would they go and buy the same exact 3 piece suit?
Not hardly. Pants legs longer or shorter, sleeves may be longer or shorter,
waist different sizes. But they both weighed 170 lbs. Our homes are the same
way. Different insulation in walls, floor, ceils, different roofs, different
underneath homes, different size window, different type windows that have
different insulation factors. These are just a few things that match a system to
the load of the building.
Aren't all heating and cooling systems the same? I'm glad you ask?
NO THEY ARE NOT! Oil might be oil ( I
don't know), but all heating and air conditioning system are NOT alike. Different
manufactures make systems, different ways with different out puts on the systems
being rated at a certain tonnage. Don't be fooled by "I can put you in that same
system in for a lot less money". You better compare thoroughly. Ask for you your
guarantees, in writing!
